Virtual Private Networking

The other day, I was using VPN and halfline came over and tried using the VPN as well. It ended up kicking me off VPN because of a bug in NetworkManager. I'd been annoyed by NetworkManager a little, and this was the last straw. I've done some work with it now and have actually enjoyed the change of pace. Over the weekend, a somewhat large portion of code landed which refactored how VPN connections are handled internally. There's some more work to be done here. After talking with clarkbw, we probably want to add an intermediary icon as well. I wonder what that will be. Oh, well. My networking experiences have been slightly better of late with the patches going in, which is the key thing for me, but there's still room for improvement.

Big thanks to Dan Williams for his patience and help with figuring out how things work, and for well, writing the damned thing in the first place. You da man.

FOxy Pads

Hm, lmacken points out that Deer Park Alpha 2 has a skin blemish that appears if you move your mouse into that general area. I wonder how to go about searching for that in bugzilla. Hopefully someone has popped that zit by now.

Hackergotchi

w00t! Thanks for the awesome hackergotchi, Mo. It's totally sweet. You rock! I'll add it to Planet FedoraProject as soon as I get my access set up. I'll also fix up a few minor issues on Planet FedoraProject that were found after it went live.

Once again, without further ado

The Fedora firefox package is once again built with system cairo, which has reached version 1.0 -- good job guys! This means that SVG and Canvas are enabled as well. Go get yours today.

Crazy CSS

One cool thing about working on a web browser is you get pretty decent at implementing web pages. The new Planet FedoraProject and fedoraproject.org are the fruits of my CSS labor.

It is definitely good to see it finally live. I've been playing with it for over a month now, and it looks totally sweet. Big Kudos to Diana Fong for the design work, and Hrishi for helping to make things go on IE, and getting the wiki and rest of the site set up as well.

Ridley

Awesome. I'm very excited to see what happens with Project Ridley.

Gazpatchwork

Hmm, so I've started hacking on gazpacho, and it's turning out to be fairly interesting. I've gotten several patches into the mainline already, and even ended up uncovering a few bugs in PyGTK (which I've now committed fixes for). I've got a few other things I'm working on for it. All in all, not bad for a random night of pizza-induced hackfesting. Stay tuned.
