Deer Park
Shameless promo alert. Rawhide just got Deer Park. I wrote a short article on it titled: Introducing Deer Park.
Builds Galore
I have Firefox 1.0.6 and Thunderbird 1.0.6 Release Candidate builds now posted in the FC3 testing and FC4 testing channels. Make sure you have the appropriate repo enabled in your yum setup (yum --enable-repo=fedora-testing update firefox thunderbird should work in FC4 at least) and then have fun. See the Mozilla Quality blog post for more on these builds.
Additionally, Deer Park Alpha 2 hits rawhide tomorrow. There are lots of shiny new goodies that people can have fun with. I am not finished getting all the patches in Firefox 1.0 ported to Deer Park, but I felt that the sooner I get feedback there, the better. Any issues can go to Red Hat Bugzilla.
Idiomatic
Pot: I don't mean the not crashing kind of
stability, I'm talking about a stable API that doesn't require the user jump through hoops when they want to download a new
application from download.com.
Kettle: Thunderbird 1.0.5 + enigmail = boom. Why? Because of API changes on a stable branch. These changes
also hit Firefox 1.0.5 causing another (not-as-public) extension to do bad things. What API will Mozilla 1.7.9
have? Anyway, These sorts of things have been known to happen before with prior releases (ask Adobe for instance).
Things that make you go hmmm.... Note that I'm not actually complaining, just pointing out that the pot also wears the same color.
7 Days
Today is the first day in a string of seven which I am without residence. My lease on one apartment was up yesterday, and my new one starts on the seventh. I'm staying at Dan's place for the next week, but have limited access to my items as they are all packed in boxes. The post office is holding my mail for the next week and should dump all my spam into my inbox next Thursday. Get in touch with me via the normal means: cell, e-mail, or IRC.
